Bhubaneswar:30/10/26: TiE Bhubaneswar inaugurated the second edition of its flagship international entrepreneurship summit, TiECon Bhubaneswar 2026: Odisha Leap Up Summit, at Hotel Crystal Crown in Bhubaneswar. Organised under the theme “Build, Scale & Export,” the two-day summit aims to strengthen Odisha’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, promote export-led growth, accelerate innovation, and connect local enterprises with national and international markets.
The summit was inaugurated by Dr Mukesh Mahaling, Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Government of Odisha, who highlighted the state’s growing potential as a major investment destination and economic engine for eastern India. Senior government officials, industry leaders, and entrepreneurs attended the inaugural session. Dr Mahaling emphasised Odisha’s competitive advantages, including its abundant natural resources, surplus energy, land and water availability, and progressive industrial policies. He stated that the state is well-positioned to attract investments across IT, semiconductors, metals, downstream industries, and advanced manufacturing. Highlighting the vision of “mines to microchips,” he stressed leveraging the state’s mineral wealth for high-value technology industries such as semiconductor facilities and data centres. He also noted regulatory reforms, including the Jan Vishwas Bill passed by the Odisha Assembly, aimed at simplifying compliance to create an investor-friendly environment alongside improved digital connectivity and industry-research collaboration.
Shri Hemant Sharma, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Industries, called entrepreneurship a key driver of Odisha’s transition from an agrarian to a diversified industrial economy. He noted that TiE Odisha organised at least 48 events across all 30 districts in the preceding 12 months to engage local businesses and inspire young people to pursue entrepreneurship. Appreciating the government’s efforts under Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Shri Sharma stated that sustaining an annual economic growth rate of 7 to 8 percent could double Odisha’s economy in about seven years, while a 9 percent growth rate could achieve that milestone in about five years.
Shri Vishal Dev, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Electronics and Information Technology Department, explained that Odisha is strengthening its policy framework, infrastructure, and talent base. He stated that the state is shifting from a “Made in Odisha” to a “Make in Odisha” economy, focusing on semiconductors, AI data centres, and Global Capability Centres (GCCs). He shared that five semiconductor projects are underway in the state with proposed investments exceeding 4 billion US dollars. Out of 12 projects approved under the India Semiconductor Mission, two are in Odisha: a compound semiconductor fabrication facility and an advanced 3D chip packaging unit. Collaborations with global companies like Intel and GT Glass Solutions are expected to support the Samrudha Odisha 2036 initiative, which targets a 500 billion US dollar economy.
Shri Ayaskanta Mohanty, President of TiE Bhubaneswar, highlighted aligning policy with large-scale infrastructure, quality, and cost competitiveness to help Indian enterprises succeed internationally. Shri Anil Kumar Singh, President of JSW BPSL, emphasised manufacturing scale, efficient logistics, and global technology partnerships. Shri Malik Ahamadeen, CEO of MAS India, and Murali Bukkapatnam of Volksy Technology & EHAM also addressed the gathering, while Sanu Ratha, Vice President of TiE Bhubaneswar, proposed the vote of thanks.
