Bhubaneswar:25/9/26:Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati has called upon the Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State Branch (IRCS-OSB) to launch sustained, long-term awareness drives to educate the public on Thalassemia and identify unPresiding over the Executive Committee meeting of the IRCS-OSB at the New Abhishek Hall in Lok Seva Sangam on Friday, the Governor emphasized that a proactive approach is critical given the rising number of Thalassemia patients and the strong likelihood of many cases remaining undiagnosed.
To fund and expand these humanitarian and health initiatives, Dr. Kambhampati advised the organization to actively collaborate with corporate entities and secure Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) support. He also stressed the importance of regular operational oversight, suggesting that the Executive Committee meet at least three times a year to review progress and follow up on ongoing projects.
Commending the state unit’s humanitarian and social welfare contributions, the Governor encouraged the Red Cross to organize specialized training programs for volunteers dedicated to elderly care. He urged officials to obtain necessary state approvals and seek collaboration with the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment for these efforts.
Reiterating that the Indian Red Cross Society remains a symbol of selfless service, Dr. Kambhampati highlighted its crucial role in relieving human suffering and protecting lives during crises. He urged greater youth and volunteer participation to ensure Red Cross services reach those most in need.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Health & Family Welfare, Higher Education, and Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water departments, alongside Executive Committee members of IRCS-OSB. Mr. Ganesh Chandra Patra, Honorary Secretary of IRCS-OSB, presented the detailed activity report.
