Odisha Assembly hosted a state-level Gandhi Jayanti celebration

Bhubaneswar:3/10/25: Odisha Assembly hosted a state-level Gandhi Jayanti celebration organized by the Information and Public Relations Department.

Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and Speaker Surama Padhy attended the ceremony. Leaders, including Babu Singh, Aravind Dhali, and Priyadarshi Mishra, offered floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi’s statue. Senior officials Hemant Kumar Sharma, Satyabrata Rout, and Anuj Kumar Das Pattanaik joined the tribute event.

Participants reflected on Gandhi’s teachings and their relevance in today’s society. The Gandhi legacy inspired attendees to embrace simplicity and service.

Prayer and Bhajan Session Held

A multi-faith prayer meeting was conducted to honor Gandhi’s values of truth and nonviolence. Devotees sang Ramdhun and bhajans from Gandhi’s favorite Ashram collection. Gandhi admirers from across Odisha participated in the spiritual gathering. The event reflected Gandhi’s legacy of peace and unity.

Photo Exhibition Draws Visitors

A photo exhibition titled “Gandhiji and Odisha” showcased rare images of Gandhi’s connection with the state. Guests toured the exhibition and appreciated the historical photographs. Information Department’s Deputy Director Sucheta Priyadarshini coordinated the entire program. The exhibition highlighted Gandhi’s influence on Odisha’s freedom movement.

The Gandhi Jayanti celebration at the Odisha Assembly reminded everyone of Mahatma Gandhi’s timeless values of truth, peace, and nonviolence. His legacy continues to inspire generations across the world, urging us to build a more compassionate and just society.
