Bhubaneswar23/7/26:: Sri Dodda Venkata Swami, IAS, Principal Secretary to the Government in the Labour and ESI Department, chaired a comprehensive review meeting on July 22, 2026, to evaluate the administrative performance and operational roadmap of the Labour Directorate.

Labour Commissioner Sri Indramani Tripathy, IAS, alongside divisional and departmental officers, briefed the Principal Secretary on targets achieved over the past fiscal cycle and addressed administrative challenges in field-level enforcement.

The primary purpose of the review was to assess the Directorate’s ongoing efforts in safeguarding labor rights and improving service delivery for workers across both organized and unorganized sectors throughout the state. Discussions focused on the implementation status of key social security initiatives, such as the Nirman Shramik Kalyan Yojana for construction workers, as well as welfare programs managed under the Odisha Unorganised Workers Social Security Board.

Officials reviewed enforcement protocols related to statutory mandates, including the Minimum Wages Act, the Equal Remuneration Act, and safety regulations for inter-state migrant workmen. Strategic priority was given to targeted inspections aimed at eradicating child labor, ensuring proper maternity and gratuity benefits, and maintaining industrial peace through timely dispute conciliation.

A major highlight of the meeting was the official launch of the Labour Directorate Annual Activities Report by the Principal Secretary. The publication provides a structured overview of the year’s achievements, updates on worker registration and cess collections, and strategic benchmarks set to enhance worker welfare, digital governance, and workplace safety in the coming year.
