Bhubaneswar:30/9/26:The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Wednesday announced that it will launch its annual month-long outreach campaign, the Jan Sampark Padayatra, starting in October. The state-wide rally will run until November 2 across all 34 organizational districts, blocks, municipalities, NACs, and municipal corporations in Odisha.

Former Chief Minister and BJD Supremo Naveen Patnaik will formally inaugurate the campaign from Ward No. 52 in Bhubaneswar on the opening day.

Addressing a press conference at Shankha Bhawan, senior BJD leaders—including Vice-President Debi Prasad Mishra, Bhubaneswar President Ashok Chandra Panda, MLA Ananta Narayan Jena, and Mayor Sulochana Das—outlined the primary objectives of the month-long program.

“For a month, party workers will visit households across every corner of the state to highlight the unfulfilled election promises of the BJP government over the past 27 months, while recalling the developmental strides made under BJD rule,” stated Debi Prasad Mishra.

The party targeted the ruling BJP’s ‘Double Engine’ administration, alleging that various sections of society—including farmers, youth, students, women, Tribals, Dalits, and minorities—feel neglected. BJD leaders raised several key issues, including:

  • Law and Order & Women’s Safety: Concerns over deteriorating law and order and rising incidents against women.
  • Economic & Federal Issues: Detrimental effects on the state’s financial rights through central legislation like the MMDR Act.
  • Social Welfare & Infrastructure: Delays in pension payouts, non-issuance of new welfare allowances, errors in school textbooks, deteriorating road conditions, and stalled metro projects.
  • Urban & Rural Governance: Issues related to paddy mandis, civic sanitation delays due to tender backlogs, and housing scheme bottlenecks.

BJD leaders asserted that the padayatra aims to build direct public connections, amplify public grievances, and hold the current administration accountable across all levels of governance. Party office-bearers, leaders, and supporters have been called upon to actively participate in the month-long program.
