Bhubaneswar:1/8/26:Odisha Police have stepped up security arrangements across the state ahead of President Droupadi Murmu’s three-day visit from August 3 to August 5. A high-level review meeting chaired by Director General of Police (DGP) Y.B. Khurania focused on ensuring comprehensive security at key venues, travel routes, and railway infrastructure during the President’s visit.
One of the major highlights of the visit is President Murmu’s scheduled train journey from Bhubaneswar Railway Station to Berhampur on the morning of August 4. In view of the VVIP movement, authorities have placed the railway station and the entire route under heightened security, with additional personnel deployed to maintain safety and smooth operations.
During her Odisha visit, the President will attend important programmes in Cuttack and Berhampur in Ganjam district. She is also scheduled to visit the Maa Kandhuni Devi shrine at Taptapani Hot Spring in Sanakhemundi block, where she will offer prayers before having lunch.
Addressing the preparations, DGP Y.B. Khurania said elaborate security arrangements have been made for the President’s visit. He noted that Odisha Police have intensified security measures across all locations on the itinerary and completed the necessary preparations to ensure the visit is conducted safely and smoothly.
The security plan includes a multi-layered protection system, comprehensive technical inspections along the VVIP movement route, and enhanced surveillance at all key locations. Railway security has been strengthened with intensified patrolling along the rail track, while additional personnel will be deployed at every level crossing during the President’s train journey.
Authorities have also begun identifying railway employees assigned to platform duties during the visit. Special duty passes will be issued to authorised personnel to facilitate coordinated operations while maintaining strict security protocols.
Senior officials have been instructed to ensure seamless coordination between the Odisha Police, Indian Railways, and the state administration to guarantee a secure and well-managed visit for the President.
