Bhubaneswar:14/11/25:Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi unveiled the logo of the ambitious Godabarish Adarsha Vidyalaya scheme at Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar on Friday. The launch marked a significant step toward transforming primary education across the state.
The initiative aims to strengthen 2,200 schools in the first phase with an investment of nearly Rs 12,000 crore over four years. Moreover, the scheme seeks to modernise classrooms, introduce digital tools, and provide sports facilities to ensure holistic development for every child.
Majhi highlighted that the Godabarish Model Schools will play a decisive role in making education modern, attractive, and impactful. Additionally, he emphasised that the logo reflects Odia culture and the ideals of eminent educationist Pandit Godabarish Mishra.
The logo carries deep symbolism. At its centre, an open book and a pen nib represent knowledge, creativity, and intellectual awakening. Above them, a burning torch signifies truth and enlightenment, while surrounding rays symbolise moral light. Furthermore, the circular design conveys unity and inclusiveness, and three stars stand for knowledge, character, and service. The inscription in Odia script reinforces the state’s commitment to language and culture.
According to the plan, schools will be established in gram panchayats with at least five acres of land and proper connectivity. Priority will go to centrally located villages with adequate land availability. As a result, the scheme will create a strong educational infrastructure in rural areas.
School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond described the scheme as a transformative step. He noted that it represents not just an education reform but also a pledge to make quality learning accessible to all. Furthermore, senior officials, including Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Principal Secretary to the CM Saswata Mishra, and Commissioner-cum-Secretary Dr N. Thirumala Naik, attended the event, underscoring the importance of the initiative.
