Odisha CM Majhi Chairs District Collectors’ Conference, Emphasises Field Visits

Bhubaneswar: 27/9/24: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi chaired the inaugural District Collectors’ Conference of the BJP-led Odisha Government at Lok Seva Bhavan on Friday. The conference aimed at the effective execution of various government programs and enhancing the administration’s approachability to the public. The event, spanning two days, saw the participation of all district collectors, Superintendents of Police, and other high-ranking officials.

CM Majhi addressed the gathering, highlighting his administration’s focus on ensuring that the benefits of both central and state government initiatives are accessible to the most underserved communities.

By presiding over the conference, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi clarified the government’s approach and informed the district Collectors about the many mistakes and deviations at the administrative level during the previous government from his own experience.

Our government is taking steps to prioritize sectors like agriculture, education, health, industry, rural and urban infrastructural development, and women empowerment and accelerate the pace of economic development of the state

It is only through your hard work and determination that the benefits of all initiatives will reach the people and our state will become the number one state.”Stating that the implementation of various infrastructure projects from rural areas to the district level is currently at different levels, the Chief Minister said, “I request all the District Collectors to take steps to map all these projects that are being implemented in the respective districts. Now-a-days, Technology is available everywhere.” Therefore, you can get real-time data very easily and by analyzing them, you can know the bottlenecks in time and this database will help in taking necessary steps accordingly, he said.

Highlighting the importance of Convergence for the successful implementation of the plan, the Chief Minister said that the government is implementing many such programs and plans, the implementation of which can only be possible in convergence mode. He advised the District Magistrates to maintain coordination among all the departments and implement the plans and projects expeditiously.

During the second session of the conference, Principal Secretary of the Women and Child Development Department, Shubha Sharma, delivered a presentation on the achievements of the scheme in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida.

In her address, Sharma expressed her gratitude to the District Collectors for their dedicated efforts, revealing that 1,57,01,055 forms have been distributed out of the 1,89,34,176 printed.

She further shared that financial aid has been transferred to 25,29,720 beneficiaries under the scheme, with 25,17,545 receiving the amount directly into their bank accounts and 12,175 beneficiaries through the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC).

Efforts to raise awareness about Subhadra Yojana have been extensive, utilizing various methods of information dissemination across villages. Additionally, beneficiaries of the National Food Security Scheme (NFSS) and the State Food Security Scheme (SFSS) are being screened via the Social Protection Delivery Platform (SPDP).

A field survey is underway to assess those excluded from the schemes. To maintain transparency, all approved and rejected forms, along with explanations, will be published on the Subhadra web portal, with notifications sent to beneficiaries via SMS.

Addressing rumors that unwithdrawn funds might return automatically to the government, the Women & Child Development Department clarified that such provisions do not exist, assuring beneficiaries that their money is secure in their bank accounts.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida commended the department and the district collectors, urging officials to prioritize awareness programs in tribal areas. She expressed confidence that one crore women in Odisha would soon be enrolled under Subhadra Yojana, calling it a significant milestone in government welfare initiatives.

Health and Information & Technology Minister Mukesh Mahaling also praised the use of technology in executing the scheme and suggested rewarding the ‘Mo Seva Kendra’ and ‘Jan Seva Kendra’ centers for their contributions to the registration process. Principal Secretary of the Department of Information & Technology, Vishal Kumar Dev, discussed the finer details of the registration and verification procedures.

Highlighting local success stories, Cuttack District Collector Dattatreya Bhausaheb Shinde shared how the district has effectively implemented the scheme and proposed integrating ‘Mo Seva Kendra’ and ‘Jan Seva Kendra’ with Aadhaar centers to simplify processes further. Koraput District Collector V Kirti Vasan echoed the excitement of the local population about the scheme’s benefits.

It was announced that the first installment under the Subhadra Yojana will be disbursed to all eligible beneficiaries by March 8, 2024, marking a significant step towards empowering women across Odisha
