16th Employment Fair by Odisha Government organized at the Railway Auditorium in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar:11/8/26: Success in government service is not measured by rank or post, but by the tangible impact brought into the lives of citizens, said Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday. Addressing newly appointed candidates during the 16th Employment Fair organized at the Railway Auditorium in Bhubaneswar, the Chief Minister handed over appointment letters to 1,326 candidates across nine key state departments.

The recruits joining various sectors include 364 junior engineers in the Housing and Urban Development Department, 361 junior engineers in the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department, 12 junior engineers and 228 trainees in the Energy Department and OHPC, 118 assistant agriculture officers in the Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment Department, 111 assistant professors in Health and Family Welfare, 15 junior engineers and 71 livestock inspectors in Fisheries and Animal Resources Development, 26 junior coaches in Sports, 10 instructors in Skill Development and Technical Education, and 10 sub-inspectors in the Excise Department.

Congratulating the new appointees, Chief Minister Shri Majhi emphasized that the primary goal of public service is serving the people. He noted that timely resolution of public grievances is a moral responsibility, urging officers to welcome citizens with respect and address their issues promptly. He added that reaching the last person in the line with government benefits remains the central goal of the administration.

Outlining the state’s long-term vision, the Chief Minister highlighted plans to build a prosperous Odisha by 2036 and position the state as the growth engine for a developed India by 2047. To achieve this, transparent and efficient governance requires skilled, disciplined, and service-oriented officers. He shared that since June 2024, a total of 45,408 appointments have been made in the government sector.

Chief Minister Majhi also emphasized industrial growth as key to leveraging youth potential, revealing that investment proposals worth 21 lakh crore rupees have been attracted over the past two years, which are projected to create 20 lakh job opportunities. Referring to his recent visit to New Delhi and Noida for the Odisha Food Processing Roadshow, he stated that 38 MoUs worth 66,392 crore rupees were signed across 46 meetings with 208 investors, expected to generate 54,135 new jobs. He noted that reverse migration has already begun in Odisha.

Concluding his address, the Chief Minister extended best wishes to the new recruits and their families while advising them to strictly stay away from corruption. Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo congratulated the candidates and advised them to perform their duties with dedication and honesty. Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik called upon the recruits to work with a sense of dedication for the development of Odisha, describing them as key architects for the state’s 2036 goals.

During the event, newly appointed candidates including Tusharakanta Pattnaik, Ipsita Mohanty, Akantika Nirjharini, Pratyush Panda, and Satya Prakash Jena expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister for a transparent recruitment process and pledged to serve with integrity. Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling and Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Gokulananda Mallik were also present. Usha Padhee, Additional Chief Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, delivered the welcome address, while Girish S.N., Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water, extended the vote of thanks.
