Odisha MLAs Visit Telangana, Tamil Nadu

Bhubaneswar:11/8/26; A seven-member Odisha Legislative Assembly standing committee is visiting Telangana and Tamil Nadu to study educational practices and institutional models that could help strengthen and reform the state’s technical education sector.

The Departmental Standing Committee-7, headed by chairman Sudhir Ranjan Pattjoshi, began its study tour on August 6. The delegation includes MLAs Tusharkanti Behera, Tankadhar Tripathy, Agasti Behera and Durga Charan Tanti, among others. Legislative Assembly officials Ishwar Chandra Nayak and Prashanta Kumar Das are also accompanying the team.

As part of the tour, the committee visited the Telangana State Legislative Assembly on August 7 to gain insights into institutional practices and initiatives relevant to its study.

The delegation later travelled to Tamil Nadu, where it visited Thiagarajar Engineering College in Madurai on August 9.

During the visit, the legislators inspected several facilities at the institution, including technical laboratories, study rooms and the Electronic Centre of Design and Manufacturing

The committee also held detailed discussions with the college management on the importance of technical knowledge and its practical application.

The discussions focused on how successful practices and expertise at the institution could be adapted to Odisha’s requirements. The committee is examining ways to strengthen technical education, improve practical learning and introduce institutional practices that could benefit students in the state.

The study tour is aimed at gathering first-hand insights into educational practices and institutional models in Telangana and Tamil Nadu. The findings could help the committee recommend measures to improve Odisha’s technical education system.
