Department of School and Mass Education hosted a two‑day National Conference on UDISE

Bhubaneswar:27/2/26:Odisha’s Department of School and Mass Education, in collaboration with the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL), Ministry of Education, hosted a two‑day National Conference on UDISE+ in Bhubaneswar beginning February 27, 2026.

The event brought together senior officials from Samagra Shiksha, education boards, and key organisations to deliberate on strengthening data‑driven educational governance.

Inaugurating the conference, Shri Dheeraj Sahu, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Education, stressed the importance of reliable and timely educational data in ensuring transparency, accountability, and effective policy implementation. He noted that robust systems like UDISE+ are vital for informed decision‑making at every level.

Delivering the welcome address, Dr Pankaj K.P. Shreyaskar, Deputy Director General, DoSEL, emphasised the strategic role of UDISE+ in supporting national initiatives such as the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He highlighted that validated data form the backbone of effective planning and monitoring.

The conference witnessed participation from Shri Vikash Gupta, Commissioner, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan; Ms A. Srija, Economic Advisor, DoSEL; Dr N. Thirumala Naik, Commissioner‑cum‑Secretary, School and Mass Education Department, Government of Odisha; and Smt. Ananya Das, SPD, OSEPA. Educationists, intellectuals, and senior officials also joined the deliberations.

Key sessions focused on improving data quality, strengthening validation mechanisms, enhancing system integration, and promoting effective use of UDISE+ data for planning and monitoring. Smt conducted the programme. Ch. Vijaya Laxmi, Deputy Director, DHSE, while Smt. Sasmita Sahu, Joint Director, OSEPA, delivered the vote of thanks. The conference continues on February 28 with further technical sessions.
