Bhubaneswar, Jan 2: Odisha’s newly appointed Chief Secretary Anu Garg chaired her first high-level meeting with departmental secretaries soon after assuming office, setting the tone for a governance model focused on efficiency, accountability, and citizen-centric delivery, Officials said on Friday.
During the meeting, Garg discussed the implementation of the 15-point agenda outlined by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. She emphasized the need to make governance more responsive and people-oriented, while ensuring that the state’s long-term development goals under Odisha Vision 2036 and 2047 remain on track.
A key focus of the deliberations was the review of the two-year action plan, which serves as the immediate roadmap for achieving the broader vision targets. Garg stressed the importance of maintaining quality standards in both district-level and state-level projects. She directed officials to accelerate project execution through systematic monitoring and project-wise supervision.
Highlighting the importance of timely delivery, the Chief Secretary urged secretaries to adopt a results-driven approach and ensure that developmental initiatives translate into tangible benefits for citizens. She also underlined the need for inter-departmental coordination to avoid delays and duplication of efforts.
Notably, Anu Garg became the first woman Chief Secretary of Odisha after she assumed office of the top bureaucratic post in the state on Wednesday. The 1991-batch IAS officer, who was serving as Development Commissioner, succeeded outgoing Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja.
