Odisha Government Prepares for Historic Winter Assembly Session

Bhubaneswar:26/11/25:Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi convened a crucial legislature party meeting on November 26, 2025, as the state assembly’s winter session begins tomorrow.

The session promises to be a pivotal moment in Odisha’s political landscape, highlighted by an unprecedented address from President Droupadi Murmu.

The meeting, held behind closed doors, focused on outlining the government’s key priorities, procedural strategies, and responses to potential opposition queries. Sources close to the BJP indicate that discussions emphasised unity and preparedness, with Majhi urging all party MLAs to attend the session in full strength.

Adding to the session’s historic weight is President Murmu’s participation. As India’s first tribal woman president and a native of Odisha, she will address the state assembly for the first time since assuming office. This event not only celebrates Odisha’s pride in her achievements but also symbolises a milestone for tribal representation in Indian politics. Majhi highlighted this during the meeting, calling it a “moment of inspiration for the entire state.”

The winter session is expected to run for several weeks, with debates likely centring on budget allocations, infrastructure projects, and social reforms.

Political analysts view this pre-session huddle as a calculated effort by the BJP to maintain momentum after their recent electoral successes in Odisha. With the opposition gearing up to ask tough questions on governance, Majhi’s leadership will be under scrutiny to deliver on the promises made during the campaign.
