Bhubaneswar, Dt 25.11.2025: An election awareness programme, aimed at dispelling misconceptions and encouraging active democratic participation, was organised at Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar (Autonomous) College under the Election Literacy Club initiative.
Additional Chief Electoral Officer-cum-Special Secretary Shri Sushant Kumar Mishra attended as the Chief Guest, while Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Laxmi Prasad Sahu joined as the Guest of Honour. Addressing the gathering, Shri Mishra briefed the students on the proper establishment of democratic governance in a vast country like India, responsibilities linked to constitutional independence, the timely and strengthened initiatives of the Election Commission of India, citizens’ voting rights, the ethics of elections, and the vital role of students in strengthening democratic values through active participation and awareness.
Referring to various misleading and confusing claims circulating on social media—particularly during the Nuapada by-election—regarding EVMs, election transparency, and allegations of bogus voting, Shri Mishra provided simple and clear explanations to all such queries. He advised students to remain informed and also create informative reels from the official video content available on the social media handles of the Chief Electoral Officer’s office to spread awareness among citizens.
Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Sahu informed students about new voter registration (Form 6), deletion of names (Form 7), correction of entries (Form 8), Aadhaar–voter ID linking (Form 6B), and the implementation of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. He also shared details about useful applications such as the ECINet App and the Voter Helpline App, encouraging students to become active members of the Election Literacy Club to help further strengthen Indian democracy.
The programme was attended by Deputy Collector Smt. Smita Rath, ERO, Ekamra, Shri S. Prakash Kumar Patra, Assistant Professor, BJB (Autonomous) College, Shri Sabindra Samal, along with over a hundred students. The Election Awareness Programme will be conducted across various colleges in the state in the coming days.
