Bhubaneswar, 23rd November 2025: With a view to encouraging the swimmers of the campus and providing them a facility to practice, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar has opened its much-awaited, state-of-the-art swimming pool on its campus on 22nd February 2025. The swimming pool was inaugurated by Prof. Shreepad Karmalkar, Director of the Institute, in the presence of Shri Bamadev Acharya, Registrar; Prof. Sarat Kumar Panda, Chairman, Infrastructure, and Dr. Kodandaram Mangipudi, President-Student Gymkhana.

To mark the inauguration, a Grand Splash was organized, wherein the students, faculty members, employees, and residents of the campus enjoyed a ‘Dive-Jump-Splash’ moment. Director Prof. Karmalkar also joined them and encouraged them.

It is worth mentioning that the swimming pool at IIT Bhubaneswar is built as per international standards, with a minimum depth of 1.8 meters and a maximum depth of 5 meters. The length of the pool is 50 meters and the width is 25 meters. A professional swimming instructor, along with lifeguards, is deployed to ensure safe training and practice for the swimmers of the Institute.
