Election Commission To Conduct Special Intensive Revision In 12 States, UTs

Newdelhi:27/10/25:The Election Commission today announced that the second phase of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls will be conducted in 12 states and Union Territories. The states and union territories are the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. Briefing the Media in New Delhi today, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said that this revision is aimed at making electoral rolls more transparent and error-free.

Mr. Kumar said, phase two of SIR will cover 51 crore voters. He announced that voter lists in all 12 States and union territories where the SIR will take place, will be frozen at midnight tonight. Mr Kumar said, printing of enumeration forms and training of BLOs will begin from tomorrow. The CEC said, while the enumeration process will begin on 4th November for one month, the draft rolls will be published on 9th December and the final electoral rolls on 7th February.

The CEC also highlighted that the poll body received zero appeals in the first phase of SIR. He added that in these 12 states and UTs, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will distribute unique enumeration forms to existing voters. The CEC clarified that voters whose names were on the 2003 voter list are not required to provide any additional documents. He added that voters whose names are not in 2003’s voter list, but whose parents’ names are included in that list, will also not be required to submit extra documents.
