Two-Day Conference of CEOs begins for Nationwide SIR preparedness

Newdelhi: 22.10.2025: A two-day Conference of Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) organized by the Election Commission of India (ECI) commenced today at the India International Institute of Democracy and Electoral Management (IIIDEM), New Delhi. The Chief Electoral Officer, Odisha, Shri R.S. Gopalan, IAS, along with Additional Chief Electoral Officer Shri Sushant Mishra and Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Laxmi Prasad Sahu attended the conference.

The conference, inaugurated under the chairmanship of Chief Election Commissioner Shri Gyanesh Kumar, was also graced by the Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi.

The Election Commission reviewed the preparedness of the offices of CEOs of all States and Union Territories for the upcoming nationwide Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.

This conference has been organized in continuation of the preparatory meeting for Special Intensive Revision (SIR) held on September 10, 2025. During the meeting, detailed presentations were made on the number of voters as per the previous SIR, the qualifying date of the last SIR, and the overall voter list position in each State and Union Territory.

The Commission also evaluated the progress made by the CEOs as per the earlier instructions given to them regarding mapping of the current voters with reference to the previous voter base in their respective States/Union Territories.

Further, the Commission reviewed the status of appointment and training of District Election Officers (DEOs), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), Booth Level Officers (BLOs), and Booth Level Agents (BLAs).
