Pediatric Library for Child Patients at AHPGIC, Cuttack

Cuttack, 16/10/2025: In a compassionate initiative to bring joy, learning, and comfort to child patients, a Pediatric Library has been established in the old building, 1st floor at the Acharya Harihar Post Graduate Institute of Cancer (AHPGIC), Cuttack.

The newly set-up Pediatric Library is dedicated to children undergoing treatment at AHPGIC, to provide them with a friendly, vibrant, and nurturing space to learn and relax amidst their treatment schedule. The facility is equipped with a wide collection of children’s storybooks, picture books, comics, drawing and coloring materials, educational games, and digital learning tools, creating a cheerful environment within the hospital premises.

The initiative seeks to promote holistic care — focusing not only on the medical needs of pediatric patients but also on their mental and emotional well-being. By encouraging creativity and learning, the library offers a welcome distraction from hospital routines and helps foster positivity and confidence among young patients.

The library will be open during hospital visiting hours. Trained Councilors and staff will assist children in reading, storytelling, and interactive sessions.

This thoughtful initiative reinforces AHPGIC’s dedication to comprehensive cancer care, integrating compassion, education, and emotional support into its service delivery, especially for its youngest patients. Currently, it has seating arrangements for 10 patients with their parents. The Administration, along with some NGOs of Odisha has designed it.
