AIIMS Bhubaneswar Celebrates 13th Annual Day with Innovation and Compassion

–         Achieves Remarkable Milestones in Patient Care and Medical Excellence

Bhubaneswar, 22/09/2025: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhubaneswar marked its 13th Annual Day with a grand celebration today, highlighting a year of outstanding healthcare achievements, digital innovation, and academic excellence. The event was graced by Dr. Ashok Kumar Mahapatra, the first Director of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, as the Chief Guest, who lauded the institution’s contributions to transforming medical care in eastern India.

In his keynote address, Dr. Mahapatra congratulated the entire AIIMS Bhubaneswar fraternity for its growing impact in the field of healthcare. “The institution has consistently demonstrated a commitment to compassionate care, cutting-edge innovation, and inclusive growth in healthcare delivery,” he noted.

Dr. Ashutosh Biswas, Executive Director, emphasized the collective efforts behind AIIMS Bhubaneswar’s progress. “We have performed complex, life-saving procedures while focusing on holistic patient care. The credit goes to our dedicated team of healthcare professionals, researchers, and support staff,” he stated. Liver transplantation, skin bank, and many more facilities are to be set up at AIIMS Bhubaneswar for the public, informed Dr. Biswas.

This year has witnessed health consultations of more than 11 lakh outpatients and admission of over 45,000 in-patients. Successfully linking more than 26 lakh ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) digital health records, 17,000 blood donors’ registrations have also marked the year. Similarly, the national institute has been ranked 14th in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025, a significant rise from 31st in 2021. Ranked 2nd Best Emerging Medical College by India Today-MDRA Survey 2025, which is a significant achievement in itself.

The celebration also witnessed the inauguration of the institute’s annual souvenir, “The Insight,” and featured a series of cultural and academic programmes, with participants receiving recognition and awards.

The event was attended by several prominent dignitaries, including Dr. P R Mohapatra, DEAN (Academic), Dr. Satyajit Mishra, DEAN (Research), Dr. Soubhagya Kumar Jena, DEAN (Exam), Dr. Ashok Kumar Jena, Medical Superintendent (I/c), Dr. Sudipta Ranjan Singh, Registrar, and Lt Col. Abhijit Sarkar, DDA.
