Crop-Weather Watch Group Committee review Meeting Held

Bhubaneswar:21/7/25: A review meeting of the Crop Weather Watch Group Committee was held at Krushi Bhavan today under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee. IMD Director Dr. Manorma Mohapatra also attended the meeting.

In the current year, monsoon rainfall in Odisha has been recorded 16 percent more than normal rainfall, as of today. This has created favorable conditions for the Kharif crop, especially helpful for water-intensive crops like cotton, paddy, and potato. The Agriculture Department has been providing agriculture advisories to farmers on real-time advisories as per the estimates of the Indian Meteorological Department. Apart from this, farmers also get their queries resolved by simply calling the Krushi Samruddhi Helpline. Currently, the advisories are being provided to farmers in Odia and Sambalpuri languages. Agriculture Secretary D. Padhee has emphasized the use of regional languages in the upcoming days.

Similarly, the departmental officers have been instructed to supply an adequate number of high-quality seeds, fertilizers, etc. He advised that all the facilities provided by the government should reach the farmers, and the farmers must be the actual beneficiaries. The meeting was attended by Special Secretary, Agriculture, Shri Dillip Parida, Additional Secretary, Joint Director, Directorate of Horticulture, Scheme officers, Cooperation Department, Water Resources Department, and senior officers of the OUAT.
