BMC Additional Commissioner Assaulted By Corporator

Bhubaneswar: 30/6/25:During a grievance hearing at the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters on Monday, Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahoo alleged that Corporator Jiban Babu and several associates attempted to forcibly drag him into a vehicle.

According to Sahoo, at around 11.30 am, Jiban Babu, accompanied by five to six associates, entered the room, apparently to raise a grievance. Sahoo said Jiban Babu confronted him over remarks allegedly made about their associate, ‘Jaga Bhai.’

Denying the accusations, Sahoo refuted having made any such comments, after which Jiban Babu accused him of misconduct.

The situation reportedly escalated when Jiban Babu and his associates allegedly resorted to physical force, including punching and rough handling, in an attempt to drag Sahoo toward a vehicle.

Expressing surprise at their actions, Sahoo stated that he had not expected such behavior and vowed to take appropriate action.
