Odisha CM Offers Jobs To Wives Of Police Personnel who died in an accident while on duty in Cuttack

Bhubaneswar:30/4/25: In a heart-warming gesture, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi met with the wives of two police personnel who died in an accident while on duty in Cuttack and handed over appointment letters and a cheque of Rs 10 lakh each, offering them jobs as home guards.

Prabhasini Behera from Cuttack and Devi Shabar from Rayagada received assistance at Lok Seva Bhawan today.

The families had been awaiting support from the state government after the tragic death of their husbands in an accident. Prabhasini’s husband, Jagabandhu Mahali, was a home guard, while Devi’s husband, Loknath Shabar, was an OPF jawan. Both were part of a PCR van that met with an accident on April 22 while on duty in Cuttack.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Majhi also enquired about their well-being, advising them not to be impatient and assuring them of the government’s support. The families expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister with tearful eyes, thanking him for his solidarity. The Chief Minister wished them all the best for their future life and family.

The event was attended by senior officials, including Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Development Commissioner Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department Satyabrat Sahu, Director General of Police Y.B. Khurania, and Director General of Home Guard and Fire Department Dr. Sudhanshu Sarangi.
