Indian National Congress replaced candidates in five Assembly seats in Odisha

Bhubaneswar:5/5/24: The Indian National Congress (INC) on Sunday replaced candidates in five Assembly seats in Odisha and announced its nominee for Nilagiri constituency.

Akshaya Acharya will contest from Nilagari, according to the fresh announcement.

In its latest list of candidates, Congress fielded Debasis Nayak for the Bari Assembly seat. Nayak bagged the ticket two days after joining the party. Recently, he had joined BJP after quitting BJD. After being denied a ticket, the former minister and four-time MLA also snapped ties with BJP.

The grand old party has replaced Debi Prasanna Chand with Sudarshan Das in Jaleswar.

The party picked Himanshu Chaulia in place of Bijayananda Chaulia from Athamalik.

Similarly, Sudarshan Sahoo was chosen for Athagarh assembly seat in place of Maheboob Ahemad Khan. Uma Ballav Rath was given a ticket to contest from Puri Assembly segment in place of Sujit Mohapatra.

Earlier on Saturday, the Congress party announced Jay Narayan Patnaik as its candidate for Puri Lok Sabha seat after Sucharita withdrew from the electoral race.
