Jayadev MLA Arabinda Dhali, Former Malkangiri MLA Mukunda Sodi Join BJP

Bhubaneswar3/3/24: Sitting MLA from Jayadev assembly constituency, Arabinda Dhali, and former Malkangiri MLA Mukunda Sodi joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of the party’s election in-charge, co-in-charge, and other senior leaders.

Dhali resigned from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) yesterday while Sodi deserted the conch party earlier today.

Five-time MLA Arabinda Dhali is the sitting MLA from the Jayadev assembly constituency. Dhali was first elected to the assembly in 1992 in a by-election from Malkangiri seat on a BJP ticket.

Sodi sent his resignation letter to BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. He resigned from the primary membership of the regional party, citing negligence and disrespect within the party ranks.

The tribal leader won as an MLA from Malkangiri constituency in 2009 on a BJD ticket. In 2014, he was denied the party ticket. In 2019, he again contested on a BJD ticket but he lost to the BJP candidate.
