‘Lahari’ bags Best Odia Film Honour at 72nd National Film Awards

Odia cinema has reason to celebrate as ‘Lahari’ has been selected as the Best Odia Feature Film.  The film has been directed by Amartya Bhattacharya and produced by Jhilik Bhattacharya under the Jhilik Motion Pictures banner.

A slice-of-life film, ‘Lahari’ meanders through the lives of two friends: boatman Bhuta and fisherman Dinu, and takes us on their journey of trying to establish indigenous methods of livelihood for survival and to elevate their present situation. In the process, the film depicts the invasion of urban capitalism, superficial and auto-centred, personified by tourists, confronted with a certain authenticity and way of life. Lahari has exceptional performances by Choudhury Jayaprakash Das, Choudhury Bikash Das, and all other actors. The cast also includes Dipanwit Dashmohapatra and Jhilik Bhattacharya.
