“Padapurana’ by Girijakumar Baliyar Singh selected for Sahitya Akademi Award 2025

New Delhi:16/3/26: Litterateur Girijakumar Baliyar Singh’s poetry collection ‘Padapurana’ has been selected for the Sahitya Akademi Award 2025. According to sources in the Sahitya Akademi, the jury unanimously chose ‘Padapurana’ for the prestigious award from a list of 10 recommended books. Baliyar Singh’s ‘Padapurana’, first published in 2020, has been recognised in the poetry category.

Each awardee will receive a casket containing an engraved copper plaque, a shawl and a cash prize of ₹1 lakh. The award presentation ceremony is scheduled to be held on March 31, 2026, in New Delhi. The selection process for the Sahitya Akademi Award 2025 began in January 2025 with the issuance of an open advertisement on January 30, 2025.

Sahitya Akademi has announced today its annual Sahitya Akademi Awards in 24 Indian languages recognised by it. 8 books of poetry, 4 novels, 6 books of short stories, 2 essays, 1 literary criticism, 1 autobiography, and 2 memoirs have won the Sahitya Akademi Awards 2025.

The Awards, recommended by distinguished Jury members in 24 Indian languages, were approved by the Competent Authority of Sahitya Akademi.
