Tata Power Climate Crew Earth Run Unites Over 4,000 Citizens for Climate Action in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, 21 December 2025: Tata Power successfully organised the Tata Power Climate Crew Earth Run at the iconic Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar, bringing together over 4,000 citizens in an early-morning call to action for climate responsibility. Conducted in 5 km, 10 km and 21 km formats, the free-of-cost sustainability initiative transformed the stadium and surrounding routes into a vibrant demonstration of collective commitment towards a cleaner and healthier planet.

Organised in association with Radio Mirchi, the event marks a key milestone in Tata Power’s sustainability journey and aligns with its philosophy of ‘Sustainable is Attainable’, backed by the company’s 44% green energy portfolio and sustainable solutions, including rooftop solar, EV charging infrastructure, and smart home solutions.

In Odisha, Tata Power’s DISCOMs—operating under a public–private partnership with the Government of Odisha—serve approximately 4.7 crore consumers, while actively promoting energy conservation and climate-positive practices.

Sustainability at Tata Power is driven through its flagship Climate Crew initiative, aligned with the Government of India’s Mission LiFE. Over 50% of Tata Power employees have joined Climate Crew as climate champions, delivering measurable impact in carbon reduction, energy and water conservation, and waste reduction. This year, the initiative expanded to include families, customers, partners and suppliers through a dedicated mobile app on Android and iOS platforms.

The event was graced by dignitaries, including Mr. Siddhant Mohapatra, MLA and Actor-Director; Mr. Bijay Swain, OAS, Additional Secretary – Sports & Youth Services, Odisha; Dr. Saranjit Singh, Vice Chancellor, KIIT; Paralympian Ms. Loma Swain; Olympians Mr. Ravi Kumar and Ms. Arundhati Biswal; and Mrs. Preeti Nihalani, COO, Entertainment Network India Limited.

Tata Power leadership included Mr. Himal Tewari, CHRO & Chief – Sustainability and CSR; Mr. Gajanan Kale, Chief – Odisha DISCOMs & CEO – TPNODL; Mr. Arvind Singh, CEO – TPCODL; and Mr. Amit Garg, CEO – TPSODL.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Himal Tewari said, The Climate Crew Earth Run reinforces that caring for Mother Earth must be a way of life. Through Climate Crew, we aim to inspire inclusive, community-driven climate action through everyday choices.”

The event followed a sustainability-first approach with plantable race bibs, reusable materials, responsible waste management by Skrap, and a dedicated PwD race category, reflecting Tata Power’s commitment to inclusive and attainable sustainability.
