Bhubaneswar:18/1/26:The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced a series of strict measures ahead of the annual Khandagiri Magha Mela, beginning January 25 on the occasion of Magha Saptami. The decisions were finalised during a review meeting chaired by Mayor Sulochana Das, attended by Ekamra MLA Babu Singh, Standing Committee Chairman Ramachandra Ransingh, senior officials, police representatives, corporators, and members of the Jagamara village committee.

One of the key resolutions is a ban on fake spiritual healers or “Bhanda Babas”, who in past years misled devotees with false claims of curing diseases using water bottles or ash. Officials said such practices had undermined the sanctity of the mela, prompting strong action this year. The administration, in coordination with the World Sanatan Vedic Dharma Parishad, will keep close watch and report any impostors immediately for legal action. Veteran saint Hari Om Baba, who has attended the mela for over three decades, welcomed the move.
