New Subhadra Yojana Beneficiaries To Get 2 Instalments Together On March 8

Bhubaneswar: 1/11/25:As the process for fresh inclusion in Subhadra Yojana began Saturday, the Odisha government announced that the new beneficiaries under the women-centric welfare scheme will receive two instalments of financial assistance on March 8.

Sharing this information, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida said the registration for the second phase of the scheme began on Saturday and will remain open for one month. The application window may be extended if required

She said eligible beneficiaries registering in this phase will receive the third and fourth instalment amounts together next year on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The Minister made it clear that applicants who were found ineligible for the scheme during earlier verification are not eligible to reapply.

“Any woman who could not apply earlier can now submit her application. However, those found ineligible in the previous two surveys should not apply again. The application window will remain open for a month and may be extended further. The newly approved beneficiaries will receive two instalments together,” said Parida, who holds the Women and Child Development portfolio.

Notably, the state government opened the portal for fresh applications on Saturday for the inclusion of new beneficiaries under the Subhadra Yojana. As per the revised guidelines, women who have turned 21 years of age by March 31 this year can apply online through the dedicated Subhadra Yojana portal.

The Subhadra Yojana is one of the flagship schemes of the BJP-led government in Odisha. The initiative was a key election promise in the party’s manifesto ahead of the 2024 Assembly elections. The scheme was officially launched on September 17 last year.

Under the scheme, eligible women aged between 21 and 60 years receive financial assistance of Rs 50,000 over five years, distributed in two annual instalments. The amount is credited directly to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts on International Women’s Day (March 8) and Raksha Bandhan.

However, women belonging to families with an annual income above Rs 2.5 lakh and households owning a four-wheeler or commercial vehicle are not eligible to get benefits under the scheme.
