Agriculture Department holds preparatory meeting for impending rain

Bhubaneswar- 22/10/2025:A preparatory meeting on impending rainfall was held today under the chairmanship of Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Principal Secretary, Agriculture Department. The meeting was also attended by Director of Agriculture Shri Shubham Saxena, Director Indian Meteorological Department Smt. Manorama Mohapatra, Dean, OUAT Prof Prasannajit Mishra

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, there is no confirmed information on the formation of a cyclone till now. However, due to the withdrawal of the south-west monsoon, there is a possibility of scattered rainfall at some places in the state. And especially, there is a possibility of thunderstorms & lightning in coastal Odisha. Principal Secretary, AG&FE, Dr. Padhee, has advised the farmers to follow the instructions issued by the IMD.

This year, the state has received 100 percent normal rainfall, and due to this, a good crop yield is expected. The department has advised the farmers not to panic after hearing any misleading information. In case of need, farmers can contact 155333 or contact the nearest Regional Agricultural Research Center/Agriculture Officer. Senior officers of the departments were present at the meeting.
