Odisha Honoured as Best Performing State under Aadi Karmayogi Abhiyan; Keonjhar Recognised as Best District under Dharati Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan

Bhubaneswar, October 17, 2025:Odisha has achieved remarkable recognition for its outstanding performance under the Dharati Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Yojana. At a national event organized by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu presented the award to Odisha as the Best Performing State under the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan. The award was received by Shri B. Parmeshwaran, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes Development, Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare Department, Government of Odisha.

While Odisha was adjudged the best performing state in the Aadi Karmayogi Abhiyan category, Mayurbhanj district was recognized as the Best Performing District under the Aadi Karmayogi. Similarly, Keonjhar district was awarded the certificate of appreciation as the Best Performing District under the Dharati Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan. Additionally, Shri Rakesh Ranjan Biswal, Additional District Welfare Officer, Koraput, was honoured as the Best State Master Trainer, and Shri Sanjeev Majhi from Kalahandi district was felicitated as the Best Aadi Saathi.

The state has demonstrated remarkable progress by promoting inclusive governance and sustainable models of development through active community participation in tribal areas. Initiated as part of the Government of India’s effort to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the Dharati Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan aims to enhance tribal participation in governance and strengthen tribal institutions. As part of the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan, special Gram Sabhas were recently organized across the state, during which 5,500 village action plans were approved.
This national recognition underscores the Odisha Government’s unwavering commitment to improving the quality of life in tribal regions through education, livelihood enhancement, women’s empowerment, and digital inclusion. The success reflects the coordinated efforts of local administrations, various departments, and grassroots functionaries working together to ensure that development reaches the last mile.
