– Deputy CM suggested enhancing the unit cost of WDC
– Thanked Hon’ble Union Agriculture Minister for including 4 Districts of Odisha under PM Dhan Dhanya Yojana (Aspirational Agriculture District Program)
Bhubaneswar- 03/10/2025: Today, Hon’ble Minister of Rural Development, Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, reviewed the new generation watershed development project, namely, Watershed Development Component of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (WDC-PMKSY 2.0) and PM-AWAS Yoja, through video conferencing. Hon’ble Minister of State for Rural Development, Shri Chandrasekhar, was also present during the review.
Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment, Energy, Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, presented the status of Odisha. Hon’ble Dy CM Shri Singh Deo said that, to improve the productive potential of rainfed/ degraded land through integrated watershed management, and to strengthen community-based local institutions for promotion of livelihood & watershed sustainability, Odisha has effectively utilized 88% of the funds against the funds released.

Deputy CM Shri Singh Deo also suggested some policy reforms, such as enhancement of unit cost per hectare in plain area from 22,000 to 26,000 and in hilly area from 28,000 to 35,000 under WDC. Also extended thanks to the Union Agriculture Minister for including four districts of Odisha (Nuapada, Malkangiri, Kandhamal, & Sundargarh) under the Prime Minister Dhan Dhanya Yojana (Aspirational Agricultural District Program).
The Meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, DAFE, Odisha, Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Director Soil Conservation & Watershed Development, Shri Subrat Kumar Panda, and Senior officers from the Department of Agriculture & Rural Development, Govt. of Odisha.
