Bhubaneswar:11/9/25:The Odisha government, in collaboration with the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, today successfully repatriated 23 stranded Odia tourists from Nepal amidst escalating political instability.
The crisis, sparked by violent Gen Z-led protests that claimed 19 lives, including school children, forced Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli to resign on September 9, 2025, leading to a nationwide curfew.
Odisha’s Directorate of Odia Language, Literature, and Culture, alongside the New Delhi-based Chief Resident Commissioner’s office, coordinated the evacuation. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs and the Kathmandu Embassy played pivotal roles, earning gratitude from State Cabinet Minister Suryabanshi Suraj.
