Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo reviewed the ongoing road construction projects under the Works Department in Western Odisha

Bhubaneswar:8/9/25; Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Energy, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo on Monday reviewed the ongoing road construction projects under the Works Department in Western Odisha.

The review meeting was attended by Minister for Works, Law and Excise Prithiviraj Harichandan and Principal Secretary of the Works Department, Sanjay Kumar Singh

During the meeting, Singh Deo assessed the progress of road and bridge construction works, with particular focus on Balangir and Subarnapur districts. Key projects under review included the Balangir, Subarnapur, and Patnagarh bypasses. He urged officials to accelerate the pace of work to ensure timely completion.

Recently, during his visit to Delhi, the Deputy Chief Minister played an instrumental role in securing environmental clearance for these projects from the Forest and Environment Department, Government of India. The successful implementation of these projects is expected to greatly improve traffic flow and transportation facilities in Western Odisha, while also enhancing the region’s infrastructure.

Emphasising environmental concerns, Singh Deo advised that during road widening and new construction, existing trees should be replanted instead of being cut down.Senior officials from the Works Department were present at the review meeting
