Odisha CM Discusses State’s Strategic Role in National Security with Union Defence Minister

Newdelhi:27/5/25:Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi met Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday, emphasizing the state’s critical role in strengthening India’s eastern defence frontier. The meeting took place during Majhi’s ongoing four-day visit to the national capital.

Following the discussion, CM Majhi shared on social media platform X, calling the meeting “productive” and noting that they addressed key issues related to defence infrastructure and Odisha’s strategic importance.

“Had a productive meeting with Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh ji in New Delhi. Discussed key issues related to defence infrastructure and Odisha’s strategic importance. Grateful for his support and commitment to strengthening national security,” he posted.

Odisha’s 480-kilometre coastline and its defence assets — notably the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur and Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island in Bhadrak — make it a vital component of India’s missile testing and coastal defence systems.
