Kalahandi, Mar 30: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi Sunday launched Antyodaya Gruha Yojana at a special event in Bhawanipatna, Kalahandi district.The scheme, spearheaded by the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department, aims to ensure permanent housing for beneficiaries across the state. Beginning his speech with “Jai Jagannath, Jai Maa Manikeswari,” the Chief Minister extended greetings on the occasion of the Hindu New Year and paid his respects to the Maa Manikeswari temple and its devotees. Highlighting the importance of the day, the Chief Minister also honoured the memory of martyr Rendo Majhi during the ceremony.
The CM also revisited the tragic incident involving Dana Majhi, who was forced to carry his deceased wife’s body due to the alleged negligence of the previous government. The Chief Minister expressed his disapproval of the then-administration, highlighting the lack of support and infrastructure that led to such a heartbreaking event.
The Chief Minister emphasised the importance of accountability and the need for robust systems to prevent similar incidents in the future. He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to ensuring dignity and support for all citizens, particularly in times of crisis. As part of the scheme’s initial phase, work orders were handed over to 2,777 beneficiaries across 14 blocks in the district, enabling them to construct their permanent homes. The Chief Minister’s initiative reaffirms the government’s dedication to uplifting the underprivileged sections of society and promoting inclusive growth in rural areas.
