Kamakhya AC Superfast Express (12551) has derailed near Nergundi Railway Station in Cuttack

Cuttack, Mar 30: In a tragic incident, the Kamakhya AC Superfast Express (12551) has derailed Sunday near Nergundi Railway Station in Cuttack. However, no loss of life has been reported so far.

The train, departed from SMVT Bengaluru, was heading to Kamakhya, Guwahati. Tragedy struck at around 11.45 am near Manguli on the outskirts of Cuttack as 11 bogies of the SF Express derailed.

Following the incident, officials from the Railway department along with the emergency team reached the spot. The rescue operation is currently underway. .According to the information provided by Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of East Coast Railway, Ashoka Kumar Mishra, no casualties have been reported so far.

“We have started the restoration work and arrangements are being made to ensure that passengers stranded due to the derailment reach their destinations safely,” the officer added. Mishra assured that swift measures are being taken to restore services and manage train traffic efficiently. The railway department has also issued a helpline number at the derailment site. Those in distress can call at helpline number ‘8991124238’ for further query of the passengers. The cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained.
