Union Minister Pradhan Slams Former Odisha Govt Over ‘False’ Metro Rail Project

Cuttack, Aug 31: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has taken a dig at the former BJD government over ‘false’ Metro Rail Project.

Speaking at a public meeting in Cuttack during his one-day Odisha visit, Pradhan exposed the former government’s lies.

The BJD govt had previously said that Odisha would get its first Metro Rail Project as people heaped praise on then Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. However, it all turned out to be fake.

“The former Odisha govt had never written any application in this regard (Metro Rail Project) to the center. They had never applied for the said project,” said Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

“These are all lies, spread by a person, who was roaming around in a helicopter,” added Union Education Minister Pradhan.

He also said that BJD MP Sasmit Patra had raised the issue in the Parliament and he had already got his answers.

Pradhan Bats For Renaming Ravenshaw University

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said that the name of Ravenshaw University should change. “This is my personal opinion,” stated Pradhan.

“On a bigger and better picture, there is a need for change,” added Dharmendra Pradhan, who won his Lok Sabha MP seat from Sambalpur.

Explaining his opinion, the Union Education Minister asked about the contribution of Ravenshaw, the person whose name was used. Notably, the institution, formerly known as Raveshaw College, was named after Thomas Edward Ravenshaw, who was officiating commissioner of  Odisha Division during British rule in the country.

“A discussion should take place over the issue. The intellectuals of our state should think carefully in this matter,” said Union Minister Pradhan.
