Narendrapur, April 16, 2024: Tata Steel Meramandali (TSM) observed the National Fire Service Week with fervor and commitment to fire safety through a series of engaging activities and demonstrations.
The week-long event commenced with a flag hoisting ceremony on April 14, 2024, led by Chief Guest Amit Singh, Chief Iron Making, TSM, accompanied by Vilas N. Gaikwad, Chief Safety, TSM, and other senior leaders of TSM. The ceremony also included a solemn homage paid to the brave firemen who lost their lives in the performance of their duties.
TSM organised a variety of initiatives focused on strengthening awareness and readiness for fire safety, spanning a week-long duration. These initiatives comprised a hands-on demonstration on fire safety facilitated by expert fire personnel, a display of fire and rescue equipment at the plant, and organizing quiz competitions and awareness sessions for plant employees. Additionally, a special session is being planned to be held in one peripheral school, extending the reach of fire safety education to the community. Notably, similar fire safety training sessions have been conducted in six schools over the past year.
In line with its commitment to holistic safety, TSM also organized an exclusive awareness session on fire safety for the Housing Colony Ladies, acknowledging the importance of empowering every member of the community.
The overarching theme of the National Fire Safety Week celebration at TSM was “Ensure Fire Safety, Contribute Towards Nation Building,” reflecting the company’s dedication to fostering a safe and secure environment for all.
