Los Angeles:5/2/24:  The 66th Grammy Awards ceremony occurred in Los Angeles on Sunday. Taylor Swift made history by winning Album of the Year for Midnights. In another first, Miley Cyrus won her first-ever Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance with her song “Flowers”. Tabla player and composer Ustad Zakir Hussain achieved a remarkable feat by winning three prestigious music awards. He won the ‘Best Global Music Performance’ award in the ‘Pashto’ category.

Flute Player Rahul Chaurasia Creates History However, this is far from the maestro’s only big win at the Grammys. ‘As We Speak’, a track that was the brainchild of Hussain, Bela Fleck, Edgar Meyer, and Rakesh Chaurasia also bagged a Grammy for the ‘Best Contemporary Instrumental Album’ category. Chaurasia, a virtuoso flute player received two awards.

While accepting the award, the ‘Taare Zameen Par’ composer said, “Thank you boys. Thank you, God, family, friends, and India. India, we are proud of you… Last but not least, I would like to dedicate this award to my wife to whom every note of my music is dedicated.

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, congratulated musicians Ustad Zakir Hussain, Rakesh Chaurasia, Shankar Mahadevan,  Selvaganesh V, and Ganesh Rajagopalan for winning the Grammy award for ‘Best Global Music’ today.

Their band ‘Shakti’, a fusion music group, has won the prestigious award for ‘This Moment’.

He said that their exceptional talent and dedication to music have won hearts worldwide, making India proud.

“Congratulations Zakir Hussain, Rakesh Chaurasia, Shankar Mahadevan, Selvaganesh V and Ganesh Rajagopalan on your phenomenal success at the Grammys!
