Bhubaneswar:15/5/25: Rich in history and shaped by the Prachi River, the Prachi Valley, once home to a flourishing ancient civilization is now stepping into its well-earned spotlight. Recognised as one of the world’s unique and ancient civilizations, the valley’s history is a living tapestry of anthropology, archaeology, geology, nature, environment, heritage, culture, and geography.
An initiative by the PNV Foundation, supported by Prelude, the special screening of the documentary film “Prachi Valley: The Forgotten Legacy” took place, providing insight into the valley’s human history, natural beauty, and the urgent need to preserve, showcase, and celebrate it. This initiative paves the way for the grand Prachi Valley Festival, which is set to take place in mid-November 2025, a seven-day celebration uniting art, music, performances, heritage walks, nature trails, and cultural exchanges. The festival strives to bring together locals, visitors, scholars, and explorers to create an immersive experience that blends history, heritage, revival, and community spirit.
Shri Anil Dhir, Historian and Member, Governing Council, Convenor, INTACH Bhubaneswar, after the short documentary film screening said, “Prachi Valley has a rich history. I spent two years researching it, yet my work still feels incomplete. Many have studied Prachi Valley here, and perhaps, with enough ideas and films, the research could one day be completed.”
Shri Kuna Tripathy, Veteran Actor and Former OFDC Chairman added, “During my research, I did not focus on the ancient valley, but through this documentary, I learned about Odisha’s 3,000-year-old cultural pride. I hope to bring this ancient valley to the world through Odia films.”
Prachi Valley, with its rich cultural past, deep-rooted traditions, and spirit of prosperity, has long served as a symbol of unity and cultural exchange. Over the centuries, it has witnessed human progress, shared knowledge, and the growth of thriving communities, making it a treasure of both local and global significance.
