MoU signed to foster Bio-economy in state IIM, Sambalpur & Science & Technology Department inked the pact

Bhubaneswar:7/8/25:Biotechnology has tremendous potential to contribute to the state’s growth trajectory in the form of bio-economy, fostering all possibilities in this sector. With this, the Government of Odisha has assigned IIM, Sambalpur to develop the first Bio-Economy report of the state, assessing key strengths, challenges, and growth opportunities. In this regard a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Science & Technology Department & Indian Institute of Management, Sambalpur today at Kharvel Bhawan. The MoU was signed between Additional Secretary of the Department, Smt. Puja Mishra and Director of IIM Prof Mahadeo Jaiswal in the presence Science & Technology Minister Shri Krushna Chandra Patra and Principal Secretary Smt. Chithra Arumugam.

This report will provide a strategic roadmap, ensuring bioeconomic initiatives of the state align with national and global best practices while fostering a robust bioeconomy ecosystem. This report can be a benchmark for future bioindustries to bring economic growth in general.

Among others, Additional Secretary of Science & Technology Department Smt Sibani Mohanty, Smt Urmiprava Moharana, Smt. Bidyut Prava Rout, faculty of the IIM Shri R.K. Padhi, Shri Sandip Mukhopadhaya were also present on the occasion.
