Hon’ble Deputy CM Shri K V Singh Deo met Hon’ble Union Power Minister Shri Manohar Lal

Bhubaneswar-29/07/2025:Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister met Hon’ble Union Power, Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Manohar Lal today at Delhi. Discussed various critical concerns in power sector in Odisha and requested favourable consideration on those issues.
The concerns includes the early sanction of funds of Rs. 3069 crore under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). As Odisha frequently faces cyclones and floods, the coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) has proposed disaster-resilient power infrastructure with selective underground cabling, especially 30 km from the coastline. Therefore, Odisha urgently needs central financial assistance for Disaster-Resilient Power Infrastructure. Considering the rising power demand, Dy CM Shri Singh Deo urged for the allocation of 800 MW of Power from NLC Talabira Phase-II project in addition to the 400 MW already allocated in Phase-I to Odisha . This would bring total share to 1200 MW from 3200 MW total project capacity.

Odisha has been making significant strides in its power sector development. With these sanctions, Odisha will not only benefit its people but also contribute to the national goal of ensuring reliable and resilient power infrastructure across the country.
