Cuttack is bidding an emotional farewell to Goddess Durga

Cuttack: 14/10/24:With the immersion process underway, Cuttack is bidding an emotional farewell to Goddess Durga.

According to sources, Cuttack’s five-day Goddess Durga puja celebrations concluded today, with idols being carried out for immersion. Following the police-issued route chart, the procession is en route to Devi Ghat. Before immersion, the idols are welcomed and worshipped at Mangalabag Puja Mandap, where puja committee members and VIPs can be seen paying their final respects to the Goddess.

Thousands of devotees are thronging the streets to catch a glimpse of the goddess, creating a vibrant and chaotic atmosphere. The immersion procession carried out under tight police supervision, follows a predetermined route charted by the authorities.

Cuttack residents are bidding an emotional adieu to the goddess amidst the sounds of traditional instruments. Traditional instruments like ghanta and sankha among others are adding zing to the vibrant electric atmosphere. After the procession, the organizers of various puja pandals in Cuttack will immerse the idols in temporary waterbodies.

Cuttack Deputy Commissioner of Police Jagamohan Meena said, “To ensure a seamless and secure experience, over 60 platoons of police forces deployed. That apart, 66 aid posts were erected. Special teams have also been inducted to speed up the immersion process. Moreover, two CRPF platoons deployed to prevent potential issues.”

MLA Sofia Firdous has praised the police department’s efforts, saying, “The puja is concluding on a peaceful note, and I appreciate the hard work of cops in making it a success.”
