IITTM Bhubaneswar hosts the World Tourism Awards event

Bhubaneswar:5/11/22:IITTM Bhubaneswar celebrated the World Tourism Awards 2022 ceremony today, i.e. 5th November 2022 in an exclusive ceremony at the institute premises. The annual World Tourism Awards launched by IITTM Bhubaneswar provides an opportunity to showcase and promote, encourage and reward tourism excellence. It also recognizes outstanding contributions in different areas to the community and society. Contributions emphasize the awardee’s concern for the common good, willingness to give time and comfort, and the ability to draw together varied resources to solve problems, rather than only technical competence.

The Nodal Officer, Dr. Md. Sabir Hussain extended the welcome address and gave an insightful address on “Rethinking Tourism”, the theme for world Tourism Day 2022. The Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Byomakesh Tripathy, Vice-Chancellor, Utkal University of Culture, Bhubaneswar lauded the efforts of the institute to recognize excellence and elaborated on the significance of a multifaceted approach to inclusiveness in post-covid tourism. The Guest of Honour, Prof. Pradyumna Kumar Mohanty, Dean, Xavier University, Bhubaneswar emphasized the need for creativity in tapping the tourism potential of Odisha. Event Coordinator, Dr. Adyasha Das elaborated upon the genesis of the awards and several new initiatives taken up by IITTM.
