No government agencies or private service providers can dig up roads in Bhubaneswar city from December 1

Bhubaneswar: 31/10/22:No government agencies or private service providers can dig up roads in Bhubaneswar city from December 1 ahead of the Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023 to be held in the capital city of Odisha.

This was decided in the Hockey World Cup preparatory meeting held on Sunday under the chairmanship of Development Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Jena.

Digging up roads for any work in Bhubaneswar city will not be allowed after December 1 and all roads have to be repaired as soon as possible. In case of any emergency work, the concerned department will have to take Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) permission to dig the road. The concerned BMC official will give permission after a proper inspection. Besides, WATCO, GAIL, and internet service providers will be asked not to dig roads, said a BMC official after attending the meeting.

Around 80-km road in the city will be specially developed under Priority Road Network ahead of the Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023.

The city carnival ‘Dot FEST’ will be organized during the upcoming Hockey World Cup. The ‘Dot FEST’ will be held on Bhubaneswar food, entertainment stories, and trail theme. An international food festival will be organized at the Exhibition Ground with stalls from over 15 countries.

Similarly, the storytelling event will be organized at parks with art trails. traditional and cultural dances of Odisha will also be performed on the stage.
