Damascus:17/9/22: At least five Syrian soldiers were killed in an Israeli airstrike on Damascus, reported Syria’s official news agency, Sana. The airstrike was conducted near the Damascus international airport. The strike was reportedly carried out at around 00:45 am local time on Saturday.

“The aggression led to the death of five soldiers and some material damage,” reported the news agency quoting a military source as saying.

The strike came from the northeastern direction of Lake Tiberias to target the Damascus airport and southern parts of the city, the source told Sana. As per the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights war monitor, Israeli conducted the shelling targetting areas where Iran-backed groups were stationed.
However, it is still not known about the number of missiles fired by Israel.

Syria’s air defences reportedly intercepted the hostile missiles in its airspace and shot some of them down.
