Dr. Ricky G Kej, two times Grammy Award-winning Indian music composer and environmentalist delivered his talk on “My Earth Songs”

Bhubaneswar:4/7/22: Dr. Ricky G Kej, two times Grammy Award-winning Indian music composer and environmentalist delivered his talk on “My Earth Songs” – music for children on environment and sustainability, as part of the 25th Odisha Knowledge Hub Lecture Series today.

Government of Odisha has been organizing the Odisha Knowledge Hub (OKH) Lecture Series for promoting new and emerging ideas in different fields since January 2016.

Dr. Kej praised Odisha for its beauty and grandeur and described about the journey of his musical career and how his music is intertwined with nature. As an environmentalist, he has made conscious efforts toward saving wild animals and their habitat.

He shared his experience with climate change and cited the example of Kiribati Island Country, which may be the first Country to be submerged if the present pace of carbon emission goes unabated and the Sea level rises the way it is rising.

He stated that music touches the emotional chords of the people, especially the young and impressionable minds, and changes their attitude towards all living beings. Accordingly, he has dedicated his life to only working for music to promote awareness about climate change, environmental conservation, and sustainable and responsible development.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik attended the Lecture virtually and praised Dr.Ricky G. Kej for his commendable work and concern for the environment through his music. He urged him to tune his songs in Odia.

Minister, Agriculture & Farmer’s Empowerment, Minister, Planning & Convergence, Chairman Odisha Skill Development Authority, Chief Advisor to Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, Development Commissioner-cum- ACS, Secretaries of the Departments, and senior officers of the State Government were present on the occasion.

Eminent personalities from the field of education, art, culture, literature, dance & music attended the Lecture. Collectors along with District level functionaries and students from many schools listened to the Lecture virtually.
