Sunil Kumar Bansal took charge as the new Director-General of Police (DGP) of Odisha

Cuttack:31/12/21: IPS officer Sunil Kumar Bansal today took charge as the new Director-General of Police (DGP) of Odisha.Bansal assumed charge as the chief of the Odisha Police at the State Police Headquarters, Cuttack by receiving the guard of honour. Earlier this month, the 1987-batch IPS officer of Odisha cadre was appointed as the new Director-General of Police (DGP) of the state by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Later, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved his premature repatriation to his parent cadre, the Government of Odisha.

Bansal was serving as the Special Director, Intelligence Bureau (IB).

Former DGP Abhay’s tenure as the top cop ended today. He was earlier scheduled to retire in June, this year. However, his tenure was later extended till December 31, 2021, by the State Government.
