Odisha CM demands 184,000 houses for Fani-hit families under PMAY(G)

Bhubaneswar:11/12/21: Odisha CM Shri Naveen Patnaik has written to PM Shri Narendra Modi seeking 1.84 lakh houses for CycloneFani affected families under PMAY (G) and 13 lakh houses for non-Fani affected districts comprising of tribal districts and KBK districts.
CM mentioned that the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India allowed identification of eligible left out families through Awaas+ by 07-03-2019. But State could identify only 35,000 families within this period due to pre-occupation of Govt for General Elections-2019, network connectivity issues & LWE violence.
When MoRD opened the Awaas+ window for only 14 districts affected by CycloneFani, another 7.87 lakh families were identified. Odisha has identified 5.09 lakh families in 16 districts not affected by Fani, who are also eligible. CM highlighted that these are tribal and KBK districts.
Thanking for sanctioning 8.17 lakh PMAY(G) houses to Odisha, CM has drawn the PM’s attention to the woes of many families of KBK and tribal-dominated districts and has sought his intervention.
